A tale of love across continents
It all started in Liverpool, a cold and rainy city in the northwest of England. In the spring of 2020 (yes, during Covid), I had decided to study abroad, leaving behind my small university in the Chicago suburbs. Meanwhile, he was living across the Atlantic, a Spaniard working remotely and taking advantage of the freedom to work from anywhere in the world. He had chosen Liverpool, where his brother lived, as his temporary home.
Liverpool, where our story began
After about a month of soaking in British culture, my study abroad friends (aka the 'girlzzz') and I decided to try something different: a night out at the only Latin bar in Liverpool. That night, among the flashing lights, the music, and the crowd of people dancing and chatting, our eyes met, and we smiled at each other. Neither of us could have imagined what was about to unfold—a love story between two people from completely different parts of the world.
The night that changed everything
We spent our days exploring the city, grabbing coffee, watching soccer games with friends, and enjoying nights out together. Life felt perfect—until Covid changed everything. I had to return to the U.S., and just like that, our relationship became long-distance. With 3,779 miles and an 8-hour time difference between us, it wasn’t easy. But we made it work. Long FaceTime calls became a lifeline, and somehow, we found a way to stay connected.
Making long distance work
After two years of long-distance calls, visits to the UK, and trips to Spain during my school breaks, we decided it was time to close the gap. He took a one-way flight from Madrid to Chicago, leaving behind everything he had ever known to start a new life with me. Now, we’re building our dream life together, surrounded by the love of our families and friends—both near and far. The summer of 2025 will mark the beginning of our next chapter as a married couple.
European adventures
Getting married at San Gil y Santa Ana is more than just a celebration of our love. It's also a way to honor a beautiful family tradition started by Alejandro's grandparents, continued by his parents, and now, by us. We are overjoyed to share this special day with our closest family and friends. Finally, together—with no return ticket.
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift! However, if you'd like to help us fill our honeymoon piggy bank...
